The Naval Police have arrested two people along with a dredger for illegally extracting sand from the Jamuna River near Tarkhamba in Alokdia Char under Shibaloy police station in Manikganj district.
In a press release on Thursday (January 9) morning, Mr. Md. Emran Mahmud Tuhin, in-charge of Daulatdia Naval Police Outpost, confirmed the matter.
The arrested accused are: Md. Sahabuddin Khan (50), son of Abdul Mannan of Mach Gazi village under Mehedi Gonj police station in Barisal district, and Md. Ariful Islam Helal (35), son of the deceased Aftab Mollah of Rajdhar Pur village under Baliakandi police station in Rajbari district.
The Naval Police said that based on a secret information, a team of Daulatdia Naval Police arrested 2 accused along with 1 dredger while illegally extracting sand from the Jamuna River near Tarkhamba in Alokdia Char under Shivalay police station of Manikganj district under the jurisdiction of Daulatdia Naval Station. The seized goods are worth about 65 lakh taka.
A regular case has been filed against them at Shivalaya Police Station under the Balumahal and Soil Management Act.
