The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Cox’s Bazar city branch held a protest march and rally as part of the central program in front of the central mosque in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The protest march held after Friday prayers yesterday (July 7) started from Bholababu’s petrol pump and circled the main road of the city. The protest march ended with a short rally at Kalu’s shop. Zahedul Islam, assistant secretary of the district Jamaat, was present as the chief guest in the rally held under the chairmanship of city secretary Riaz Muhammad Shakeel. Jamaat-e-Islami District Majlis Shura Member and former Upazila Vice Chairman Shahidul Alam Bahadur, City Organizational Secretary Darbesh Ali Arman, City Shura and Working Council Members Nurul Amin, Jahedul Islam Noman, Labor Welfare District Organizational Secretary MU Bahadur, Tourism Thana Branch President Md. Shahjahan, city labor welfare secretary Rashedul Haque, students’ camp secretary of Cox’s Bazar city Abdul Malek and many others. Addressing the chief guest in the rally after the rally, district assistant secretary Zahedul Islam said that the incident of burning the Holy Quran in Sweden has hurt the hearts of the devout Muslims of Bangladesh and the whole world. There is a deep conspiracy going on against Muslims all over the world. The so-called civilized countries are hurting the liver of Muslims with genocide, occupation, torture and looting. As part of that, the burning of the Holy Quran by extremists with state sponsorship in Sweden is an extreme act of insolence towards Muslims. The perceived act cannot be freedom of expression in any way but a deliberate insult to the sacred values of Muslims under the guise of freedom of expression. These countries claim to be civilized and give cover to other countries on various issues including human rights. But the world’s peace-loving and conscientious people cannot understand what kind of civilization Sweden is showing by burning the Qur’an, which is dearer to the lives of about 200 million Muslims, than the lives of Muslims. The leaders also said that extremists had done the same in Sweden in April 2023 and 2020. But neither the Swedish government nor the UN took effective action against him. As a result, the same incident has been repeated. Therefore, Muslims must take effective measures to maintain their dignity, rights and values. It is now a demand of faith for all Muslim leaders to unite on the question of the Qur’an and the nationality of Muslims. We call on the Swedish government to immediately arrest and punish those who set fire to the Holy Quran and to prevent the recurrence of such heinous incidents. At the same time, I am calling on all intelligent people of the world including OIC, Arab League, United Nations to take effective initiatives to stop this hateful act.
