The students of Islamic University have been protesting the vandalism and flag torn off the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala, India, by members of the Hindu nationals.
The protest, organized under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, began at Zia Mor and moved through various campus roads at 9:30 pm on Monday. Over 100 students joined the demonstration.
At the end of the procession, IU anti-discrimination student movement coordinators said, “The attack on our diplomatic office in India is an attack on our nation’s dignity and independence. We demand an immediate apology from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
“The struggle against the domination of India, will continue, and we want everyone on our side in this struggle,” they further said.
The protesters also saying, “Every citizen in our country is free; no minority, namely Hindus, has been attacked. Indian media is spreading propaganda that Hindus are being persecuted in Bangladesh.”
It is worth noting that tension has spread in India over the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Das, who was expelled from Bangladesh, in the wake of the statement of BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari.ৃ
