IU Correspondent : In remembrance and tribute to the Language Martyrs, a cultural event, Ekusher Kotha O Kobita, was held at Islamic University’s First Shaheed Minar on Sunday.
The event was presided over by Dr. Robiul Hossain, Professor of the Bangla Department. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah was present as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. A. Yakub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr. Muhammad Jahangir Alam, and event convener Professor Dr. Sarwar Mursid attended as special guests. The event was hosted by Dr. Tiyasha Chakma, Assistant Professor of the Bangla Department.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah said, “Today’s event by the Bangla Department has created a unique environment at the university. February 21 (Ekush) is embedded in our hearts. The awakening of the Bengali nation began after 1947 through the language movement. The spirit of this resistance shaped the outcome of 1971 and the uprising of 2024.”
