Lakshmipur district representative: Laxmipur district including several other districts due to continuous rains for several days, the public life is suffering common working people. Moderate rainfall started around 2:30 PM on Friday, and farmers and ordinary working poor people were heavily affected. The next day, Saturday and Sunday and Monday and Tuesday morning, there was continuous rain in Lakshmipur, Raipur, Chandraganj, Kamalnagar, including Ramgati and Ramganj. As a result of the heavy rains of the past few days, the movement of vehicles and people has become very difficult due to the formation of waterlogging in various parts of the district. People do not go out of the house without important work. According to the Meteorological Department, 88 mm and more rainfall has been recorded in the district in the last 72 hours. Meanwhile, the working people are not able to leave the house or even do any work, so their lives are in danger. Lakshipur Municipality auto rickshaw driver Kamal, Amjad, Ali, Suman, Rahman and some other auto recharge drivers. The drivers say that they are unable to drive well for three days, each person like me has five to six seven members in their house and the NGO installment money is on their heads. It has been raining for four days in a row.

Swapan, a rickshaw puller of Raipur upazila, said that due to the rain, passengers are getting less. As a result, my income has decreased and I am in trouble with my family. A rickshaw driver named Sujan said that I received Tk 150 all day on Monday. During normal times, daily income was between 500 and 600 taka. Tea shopkeeper Alamgir said, because of the rain, today there are no customers for four days, tea sales are not as before.

Meanwhile, Ala Alamin, a raw curry maker, said that due to the decrease in imports, the income from selling curry in vans has also decreased. Every day where at least 120 to 1700 taka was sold and a profit of 400 to 550 taka was made, now it is 800 taka in four days. Talking to the van owner, I got to know that due to rain, I only paid 350 taka from Friday to Tuesday afternoon. The condition of the sky has reduced the rent of the van due to the rain all day. If it rains all day, if you cannot pay the rent, you will have to go without food with your family. He also said that Allah knows how long it will rain like this.

Mango seller Mizan Mollya said that the sales have decreased a lot as people cannot leave their homes due to the rains and the income in the shops decreases during the rains. As a result, it becomes difficult to run the family. The hotelier of the city of Chandraganj said that this month the sales have already dropped by half and the sales have also decreased due to the continuous rain. Who had customers on Saturday has not even half of them since Sunday. It is seen that students go to schools and colleges with umbrellas, but they have to attend classes wet with rainwater. I went to some schools in Laxmipur Sadar Upazila and saw that the teachers are taking classes in water classes in the school grounds. Due to four consecutive days of rain, many people’s fish worth about lakhs of rupees have washed away from the banks of ponds and spilled into various canals and reservoirs. Null crop land of 1 acre property has been submerged. Lakshmipur bus stand area can be seen autorickshaws stopped and sitting in the rain, no passengers are seen like before. People don’t leave their homes unless absolutely necessary, so the helpless poor have a problem in running their families. Small businessmen are seen sitting in shops.

Unable to stop due to rain, due to four consecutive days of rain, the roads have sunk even due to the flow of water, the roads of Paka and Ada Paka and village Ganj are breaking and sinking people’s fossil land. Also, due to heavy rains, water has entered the low lying areas of Lakshmipur district and caused waterlogging. As a result, waterlogging has occurred in many places of Laxmipur city, due to which besides disrupting the movement of vehicles, people are moving through highways and village roads with difficulty. On the other hand, due to the rain, the small rivers and big canals inside the district are filled with water and there is a danger that the houses and courtyards of the area will sink in the houses of many people.
