Mohammad Masud Majumder:Barura, Comilla in under the initiative of International Standard University (ISU) and Mahmuda Rahman Kalyan Trust, winter clothes and blankets have been distributed among the cold-stricken people. Upazila Executive Officer Nu Among Marma inaugurated the distribution of winter clothes as the chief guest in front of the Upazila Parishad building on 21 December 2024 (Saturday) at 12 noon.
Joint Secretary Shah Alam, Barura Executive Magistrate Ahmed Hasan, and Barura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Nazmul Haque were present as special guests. The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Kamruzzaman Rimon, merchandiser of Standard Group and former general secretary of Barura Chhatra Kalyan Samity in Dhaka.
Among others present were Raisul Haque Chowdhury, Head of Public Relations Department of International Standard University, Md. Mujibur Rahman Majumder, Teacher of Computer Science and Engineering Department (CSE), Admission Officer Golam Rabbani, Ahsanul Haque, Kabir Hossain, Manager of Standard Group Sarkar Kabir, President of Barura Chhatra Kalyan Samity in Dhaka Sakhawat Obi, General Secretary Morshed Alam, Former President Gazi Obaidul Haque, Md. Yasin Mia, Idris Talukder, Global Islami Bank Comilla Branch Manager Shahnur Alam. Md. Mahadi Hasan Anik, Mobashir, Humayun Kabir Sabuj, Shah Alam, Mohammad Alamin Bablu, Faruk Hossain, Titu Ranjan, former general secretary Shah Paran, former president of the Alumni Association of Chhotulagaon Women’s College Sabrina Jahan Shanta, and leaders of the Barura Upazila Press Club and journalists were present at the event.
The speakers at the event said that Engineer Atiqur Rahman, Chairman of Standard Group and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of International Standard University, is a talented and gifted son of Barura. He has stood by the people of Barura in various disasters. And requested to continue serving and cooperating with the poor people in the future as well.
On December 21, 2024, 25,000 winter clothes, including blankets, socks, and sweaters, were distributed to orphanages and Hafezia Madrasas in 15 unions including the Barura Municipality.
