Barisal Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Stadium’s ongoing development program will be completed soon, and the international cricket tournament will be held soon, said State Minister of Water Resources Ministry and Barisal District Awami League Vice President Colonel (retd) Zahid Faruk Shamim MP.
He expressed this optimism while inspecting the ongoing development activities of Barisal Stadium and the international standard pitch construction activities in the stadium on Saturday morning. State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruk Shamim MP inquired about various aspects of the field during the inspection. At this time the officials of Barisal divisional and district sports organization were present. The ongoing development work of the stadium is almost complete. Grass has been planted to create an international standard field. But the grass is dying due to lack of regular and sufficient watering. At this time, he gave various instructions to those concerned in the management of the field including providing water regularly to the field.
After the visit, Minister of State for Water Resources Zahid Faruk Shamim told reporters that the process of turning Barisal Stadium into an international standard stadium is underway. Work is in progress on the advice of an expert to inspect the progress of this program and construct a modern cricket pitch. Barisal Stadium will be suitable for playing international cricket after the completion of modernization work including pitch construction.
At that time, Divisional Football Association President Asaduzzaman Khosru, District Sports Association Member Secretary Manjurul Ahsan Ferdous, BCB Councilor Pradeep Kumar Ganguly, Jatiya Krira Parishad Project Engineer Shibu Lal Khaskel Abdur Rob and general secretary Zakir Hossain were present at the press club.
