Indian liquor banned for import seized in Sherpur, 1 arrested along with pickup

Sherpur District Detective Branch (DB) Police conducted an anti-drug drive in Palashikura village of Nalitabari upazila at around 6 am on Sunday, March 16 and arrested a drug dealer named Md. Anis (47) along with 60 bottles of Indian liquor.

The arrested drug dealer Md. Anis is the son of the late Kashem Ali of Nandir Bazar village of Sadar upazila of Sherpur district.

Based on a secret tip-off, Sherpur District Detective Branch (DB) Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Morshed Alam, Sub-Assistant Inspector (ASI) Shajahan, Mehedi Hasan, Mominul Islam along with a team of forces conducted an anti-drug drive on the paved road in front of Hazrat Member’s house under construction in Palashikura village of Nalitabari upazila at around 6 am on Sunday. At that time, drug dealer Md. Anis was arrested along with a mini pickup. Later, 60 bottles of banned Indian liquor were recovered from him. The estimated market value of the recovered liquor is 1 lakh 80 thousand taka.

District Detective Branch Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salemuzzaman confirmed the truth in this regard and said that a case has been filed at Nalitabari Police Station under Section 25 (b) of the Special Powers Act of 1974. The arrested accused was handed over to the court by the DB police on Sunday afternoon.
