Referring to the recently concluded visit to India, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, we must remember that we made this country independent. There is no harm in transiting within one country to another country. Sheikh Hasina does not sell this country.
She said this at a press conference on various aspects of his visit to India at Ganabhaban on Tuesday (June 25) at 11 am.
There is criticism of ‘selling the country’ on social media about India’s railway connection through Bangladesh. In response to the questions of the journalists, Sheikh Hasina said, I have a question, what is the weight measured? How is weight measured? Earlier it was measured by a scale, now it is measured by a machine. Now how to sell?
She said, Bangladesh is an independent country. We made this country independent by the liberation war. Those who criticize should know that only one allied power has stood shoulder to shoulder with our freedom fighters to make the country independent. All the allied powers in the world who cooperated in the war did not leave that country. There are still American troops in Japan, Russian troops in Germany.
In this context, the Prime Minister said, but India is an exception. They have fought alongside us as an allied force. But after independence the Indian government took back their soldiers. Even then, those who talk, how can they say that they will be sold to India? In fact, those who say this are selling themselves to India.
The prime minister questioned that what is the harm in transiting through one country to another country?
She said, I am slowly opening the railways which were closed with India. Rail communication is making a huge contribution to the economy. Will we close the door in Bangladesh? Look at Europe, there are no borders. Is there a country selling another country?
Stating that the visit to India has been very fruitful, the Prime Minister said, discussions were held to reduce border killings to zero.
