India set a target of 515 runs to Bangladesh in the Chennai Test. The hosts declared the second innings with 287 runs for 4 wickets. This is the mountain of runs in front of Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill and Lokesh Rahul were at the crease when India announced their innings. Gill scored 119 runs and Rahul was playing with 22 runs.

Today on Saturday, India started the third day’s play with 81 runs for 3 wickets. Rishabh Pant, the unbeaten batsman on the previous day, became aggressive as the day progressed, though the runs were a bit slow in the beginning. They also played some wrong shots while batting at Markut. Bangladesh has forgiven them with that wrong catch miss.

In the 35th over, Gill was caught by Taskin Ahmed in the cover point region. But Taijul Islam could not palm the ball. He might have palmed the ball with a dash forward. A look of regret appeared on Taskin’s face at the catch miss.

In the 49th over, Pant hit Shakib Al Hasan’s ball through mid-wicket. The ball floats in the sky. Bangladesh cricket fans were happy to see fielder Nazmul Hossain calm there. But Shanta disappointed the fans by dropping the easy catch.

Pant and Gill got their lives – both scored centuries. The duo made a huge partnership of 167 runs for the fourth wicket.

Mehdi Hasan Miraj finally broke the Indian pair stuck like glue. It was Bangladesh’s only victim on the third day. The right-arm Tiger spinner took a hand-caught catch to Rishabh Pant, who scored a century. The Indian wicketkeeper batsman scored 109 runs off 128 balls. Pant hits 3 sixes with 13 fours.

Earlier, India scored 376 runs in the first innings. In reply, Bangladesh were all out for just 149 runs. India had the opportunity to follow up on Bangladesh but did not do so. They came down to bat in the second innings themselves.
