Independent candidate of Pirojpur-1 constituency AKMA Awal is campaigning with his election eagle symbol poster on police protection vehicle.
On Thursday evening, when he went to police protection after a road meeting in Nazirpur of the district, a poster of the eagle symbol was seen hanging on the vehicle carrying the police. In addition, at night with that car, he made mass contact at the residence of Shariktala Union of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila and the area adjacent to Bangmata Bridge. A storm of criticism is going on in the area because the eagle symbol poster is displayed on the police protection car.
Local eyewitnesses told multiple sources that after Thursday evening, independent candidate district Awami League president AKMA Awal was going to Pirojpur after a road meeting in Nazirpur Shahid Minar field of Awal district. At that time, he was taken with police protection in an open pickup van with an emergency horn in front of the vehicle carrying him and the eagle symbol of the independent candidate Awal was displayed on both sides of the pickup van carried by the police.
In this regard, Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Shariful Islam said that the pick-up van carried by the police does not belong to the police force. He (Awal) was one of the witnesses in the case of Jamaat leader Delwar Hussain Sayedi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for war crimes. And because of that he is getting police security by order of the learned court.
It is to be noted that last Monday, during a road meeting of independent candidate Awal in Chandipur of Indurkanir district of Delwar Hossain Saeedee, his elder brother Pirojpur Municipal Mayor Habibur Rahman Malek said, I can say with my hand on my chest that Awal did not testify against Saeedee. His speech went viral on social media and the incident was reported in various media.
