The great Independence and National Day was celebrated with due dignity in Barura, Comilla.
On Wednesday, March 26, at 6 am after sunrise, wreaths were laid in memory of the brave martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar of Barura Upazila. Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong presided over the ceremony, in which Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Umme Muslima, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Nasrin Sultana Tonu, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ratan Kumar Saha, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Borhan Uddin Bhuiyan, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Afroza Begum, Barura Thana Officer-in-Charge Kazi Nazmul Haque, OC Investigation Sanchay Sarkar, and other officers and department heads were present.
At 9 am, a national flag hoisting, parade, display, essay and painting competition was held at the Upazila Parishad ground with the participation of students from various educational institutions. At the end of the program, commemorative mementos were given to the winners and participating students. At 11 am, a reception was given to the families of the freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong presided over the program, in which Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Umme Muslima, former Freedom Fighters’ Sangsad Commander and Freedom Fighter Shamsul Haque Sardar, Freedom Fighter Rafiqul Islam Mir spoke. Members of the families of the freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters were present at the time.
On this day, Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Among Marma Mong exchanged greetings with flowers with all the brave freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighter family members present. At 3 pm, a friendly football match between Sudhijan and the administration was held at the Upazila Parishad ground.
