In the case of murder of college teacher Sujan in Comilla, 6 persons ordered to be hanged

The learned court has ordered the death of 6 accused in the case of murder of college teacher Jahedul Alam Sujan in Comilla. Besides, the court imposed a fine of Tk 50,000 on each of them. Additional District and Sessions Judge Jahangir Hossain of the 5th Court of Comilla delivered the verdict on Tuesday afternoon. Two accused have been acquitted in this case. Among the convicted accused, 3 accused were present in court and 3 others are absconding. According to court sources, on the afternoon of October 8, 2010, in the Kuchaitli area of Adarsh Sadar Upazila of the district, due to previous enmity, Jahedul Alam Sujon, a teacher of a private college, was beaten and injured with a knife. He later died while undergoing treatment. In this incident, AKM Farooq Azam, the father of the victim, named 10 people and filed a case against 3-4 unknown people at Kotyali Model Police Station. Later, the investigating officer of the case SI said. On May 22, 2011, Nasir Uddin Mridha filed a charge sheet against 9 people in the court. Then one of the defendants died. After hearing the testimony of 15 of the 21 witnesses in the case, the court judge announced the death sentence against 6 on Tuesday afternoon. The court acquitted the other two people in the case as the charges were not proved. The convicted accused are Nayan, Kamal, Jamal, Mithun, Ilyach and Zakir. Among them, Nayan, Kamal and Mithun are absconding. The case was handled by the assistant public prosecutor of the court. Zakir Hossain and additional PP Md. Rafiqul Islam and advocate Masood Salauddin appeared for the accused. Lawyer for the state. Zakir Hossain said we are satisfied with the court verdict.
