I am a child of this city. As the people own everything in this city I am also a part of it. So to attack and loot a temple is to loot my wealth. It will not be allowed to happen. BNP relief and resettlement secretary Haji Amin-ur-Rashid Yashin said these things after visiting Sri Sri Gupta Jagannath Temple in Comilla on Tuesday afternoon, August 6.
He also interacted with the people of the local Hindu community. Anjan Chakraborty, president of the temple committee presided over the meeting.
He said, in exchange for the fresh blood of Hazar Khan’s students, we got a country free from dictatorship. First of all, I remember those students. Remembering thousands of people who are suffering in hospital. I have heard that in some places temples and houses of Hindu brothers have been attacked. You know who did this attack. These are the ghosts of those who have sucked this country for more than an age. We want to make it clear that everyone, including the BNP in Comilla, is with the Hindu brothers. Ghosts will not be given any chance. Call me if you feel the danger or possibility of attack. I will come and resist. It is our duty to protect you.
Anjan Chakraborty, President of the Temple Committee, said, “We have not yet received any news of an attack anywhere in Comilla.” We know the recent bond in Comilla has been around for ages. We believe the peace loving people of Comilla will be with us.
After visiting the temple, he visited the vandalized local daily Comilla Paper and the Comilla Club.
Comilla Metropolitan BNP convener Utbatul Bari Abu, member secretary Yusuf Molla Tipu, local Hindu community and Comilla Metropolitan and South District BNP leaders were present on the occasion.
