 Sarwar Kamal, mayoral candidate of the Combined Citizens Forum, said that effective initiatives will be taken to decentralize civic services at the ward level to ensure that all the people of Cox’s Bazar Municipality receive services. He has also presented several important proposals for the development of the municipality. In the press conference held at Cox’s Bazar Press Club yesterday (April 29) at 11 am, mayoral candidate Sarwar Kamal said that in the 2011 election, the people of the municipality elected me as the mayor with a huge vote. I continue the development of the municipality by maintaining good relations with the government. He said, most of the development projects that have already been implemented in the municipality are the plans of my period. In particular, the location of the waste management plant and drinking water system in Mithachari starts with me. Sarwar Kamal said in the press conference, if I am elected the mayor, the most important things will be 1. Nationality certificate, birth certificate, death certificate, inheritance certificate and others. Establishment of service centers in 12 wards to ensure citizen service delivery2. Tax determination is subject to negotiation, not imposition. 3. Trade license of traders, holding tax/burden to be kept at tolerable level. 4. De-encroachment of canals and playgrounds. 5. Improved drainage system and removal of waterlogging. 6. Taking effective measures to kill Aedes mosquitoes carrying dengue virus. 7. Widespread tree plantation to build a green city. 8. Establishment of municipal children’s park and recreation center. 9. Specific initiatives to remove waste and garbage. 10. Establishment of recycling center and construction of modern slaughter house for animal slaughter. 11. ‘Free and Safe’ WiFi in public places including educational institutions. 12. Bringing educated unemployed youth under free lancing training. 13. Decentralization of civic services at ward level. 14. 15. Bringing municipal employees under payroll and career services of officials. Identifying ward wise problems with elected councilors and solving them. 16. Formation of consultative committee consisting of various levels of municipal area. 17. Proper completion of the unfinished works of the former mayor. 18. Ensuring tourist-oriented services through training of TomTom, auto-rickshaw drivers. 19. Bringing the entire municipal area under CC cameras in consideration of overall security. 20. Formation of ‘Service Team’ to ensure citizen service during disaster. 21. Introduction of special quota of jobs with financial support sector for people with special needs, third gender population in the municipal budget. 22. Preparation of long term master plan of the municipality based on the opinion of all stakeholders etc. 23. Medical allowance will be introduced for brave freedom fighters. 24. Establishment of women-friendly separate service center 25. Providing assistance to meritorious students in higher education. 26. Taking the initiative to establish women’s colleges and universities under the initiative of the municipality. Drawing the attention of the concerned parties including the Election Commission, former mayor Sarwar Kamal said that the environment must be ensured so that the people can properly exercise their right to vote. There should be no political influence or exercise of muscle power in polling stations. Because, if this election is questioned, it will affect the entire country. The government’s reputation will be tarnished. He also said that the people could not exercise their voting rights in the 2018 elections. Hopefully, the Election Commission will present a free, fair and impartial election to the citizens of the city. I have already started working with this hope. I have spoken to people of all religions and beliefs in the municipality. They expressed interest. People from all walks of life are hopeful about me. I have been by the side of Cox’s Bazar residents for 25 years. People from all walks of life love me regardless of party affiliation. I have proved it during my tenure in Cox’s Bazar Municipality. Sarwar, the mayoral candidate of the Combined Citizens Forum, said that the UGP-2 project, all the visible works in the city’s oligarchy have been done by me. UGP-3 Project SM Para to Upazila, BDR Camp, Alir Janhal connecting road, City College to Jail Khana connecting road, all roads in hotel motel zone and drains, Kalatali, Adarshgram, Labni Point drains are of my period. All major drains and roads including Airport road, New Baharchhara, Nazirertek, Badarmokam-Techpara link road were started through me. In his continuation, the works have been implemented. After taking charge, I have done the necessary development works including mosques and cemeteries as well as roads of all the temples. I have stood by people of all religions. The municipal council had an extraordinary chain of command. Regular office from 9 am to 5 pm to ensure routine service. Citizen services have been delivered to everyone’s doorstep. No one had to suffer with the service. Public leader Sarwar Kamal said that Cox’s Bazar has already gained recognition as an international quality tourist city. Foreign tourists are coming here. All efforts will be made to make Cox’s Bazar a ‘Tourist Friendly City’ to serve them. Public opinion will be given priority. We want everyone’s support and advice to organize a modern municipality by making a committee of people of all faiths and religions. In the press conference, the convener of the Combined Citizens Forum, Mamtazul Islam, brave freedom fighter Waresh Uddin, brave freedom fighter Master Muhammad Taiyab, prominent businessman Chayed Alam, Mohammad Alam, former banker Shamsul Huda. , Social worker Rafiq Ullah Mukul, Principal Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Riaz Muhammad Shakeel and other dignitaries from different areas of the municipality were present.
