Next November 8 is Public Engineering Day. That day is also the 54th anniversary of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB). To celebrate the day, the organization will hold various programs for 9 days under the theme ‘Demand for non-discriminatory workplace-time’. The program was announced at a press conference organized at the IDEB building in Kakrail of the capital on Wednesday (November 6) around 12 noon. Engineer Kazi Sakhawat Hossain, convenor of the organization’s interim central committee, gave a written speech at the press conference. He said, IDEB is the largest organization of engineers in the country, which is also known and recognized as the largest professional organization. This organization is entering the 54th year on November 8 after crossing the thorny 53 years after its constitution. He said, considering various aspects, this year’s anniversary is very significant. On the occasion of the day, various programs have been undertaken for 9 consecutive days from 8th to 16th November. The programs are – distribution of greeting cards among various professionals, journalists, political party leaders including the President, Chief Advisers from 3rd to 7th November. On the same day, all the district committees including the central committee will hold a press conference on the occasion of the day. On November 8, a prayer meeting and discussion meeting will be held to ask for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs of the deceased leaders and members of the IDEB and the student movement. Supreme Court Bar Association president Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon will be the chief guest on this occasion. On the same day, BTV and BTV World and Bangladesh Betar broadcast special discussion programs. On November 10, processions and discussions were held across the country including Dhaka. Seminar on the theme ‘Demand for non-discriminatory workplace-time’ at IDEB building on 14th November. On the same day, free technology consultation, blood donation program will be held in all district branches of the country. Moreover, the closing session will be held on November 14 by combining the freshers and seniors. Finance and Trade Advisor Saleh Uddin Ahmed will be the chief guest. Interim Central Committee of IDEB was present at the press conference among others. Solaiman, Member Secretary Engineer Mirza Mizanur Rahman, Member Engineer Md.
