On 25/01/2025 and 03/02/2025, journalist Md. Dulal Hossain Raju (40) of Bangla TV and Dainik Pratidin Sangbad newspaper broadcasted news about the illegal exploitation of stone by peludars in the Jaflong quarry in Sylhet. In view of this, the accused Md. Humayun Ahmed (52) along with other accused got angry and on 17/03/2025 at approximately 23:00 hrs, they blocked the path of journalist Md. Dulal Hossain Raju and other journalists Naeem Ahmed, Salman Shah, Shakil Ahmed and Ibrahim Ali in the Jaflong Bridge area and beat them up. During this, the accused took away 01 camera, 01 wireless microphone, 02 smart phones and 01 motorcycle used in their news activities.
In the said incident, the victim’s brother filed a case with Gowainghat Police Station of Sylhet district, case no. 27, date 18/03/2025, section 143/342/323/325/326/307/379/114/34 Penal Code, 1860. Later, the investigating officer of the said case, on the basis of the writ petition sent to bring the accused involved in the said incident under the law, the operational teams of RAB-9 and RAB-10 increased the intelligence surveillance to arrest the said accused.
In continuation of this, on 22/03/2025 at approximately 23:30 hours, an operational team of RAB-9 and RAB-10 conducted a raid in the Chankharpul area of ​​Bangshal Police Station of DMP, Dhaka based on intelligence information and with the help of information technology. The accused in the case mentioned in the said operation, Md. Humayun Ahmed (52), father- Dr. Abdul Qadir, resident- Chhailakhel, Thana- Gowainghat, District- Sylhet, was arrested.
The process of handing over the arrested accused to the concerned police station is under process.
