Aminur Biswas, president of Kubi Branch Muktijudda Manch, has made indecent, ugly and defamatory comments about Jahura Mim, a 10th cycle student of Anthropology Department of Comilla University (CU) for participating in the quota reform movement. He also commented that he is a camp worker. The students of Anthropology department of the university made a human chain in protest. The human chain was held at the foot of the Bangabandhu statue at 11:30 on Saturday (July 13).

It is known that in the incident of police attack on protesting Kubi students on July 11, female students also participated in the movement spontaneously. There Jahura Mim is seen agitating from the front line. Last (July 12) Aminur Biswas made a post about Jahura Mim on the social media Facebook. Where this woman made various ugly, indecent and defamatory comments to the student including Shibir tag and threatened to ‘pull and tear’ one of her classmates along with Mim for protesting.

Students in the human chain said that this Aminur Biswas has harassed many of our female classmates in the past as well. Allegations of cyber bullying against him are not new today. We heard that he is the president of the University’s Muktijudda stage. His behavior is shameful for our great freedom fighter families. The comments he made about a woman student for participating in the quota movement are really reprehensible. We are demanding a speedy trial so that no student is harassed through it. We will demand from the administration that he be declared unwanted on the campus.

Mamun Majumder, vice-president of the Anthropology Society, said, “We are here to protest against the ugly comments against Mim. Looking at Aminur’s post on Facebook, there is no way to understand that he could be a student. Students today are not safe because of them. Why do we have to stand in a human chain today? Does the administration not see this? If you participate in any logical movement, how does it become a student camp? If you can’t support the students’ movement, keep quiet, but where does the courage to threaten and harass others come from?

At that time, the victim student Jahura Meem said, Aminur has been knocking me on WhatsApp and messenger for several months. I should do politics for his party but I don’t do politics. I have always ignored him. Yesterday the anti-quota movement attacked us in the presence of proctor sir. That day and night, he came to comment on Facebook and began to abuse me and speak bad language. At one point he harassed and threatened one of my classmates over the phone whose records I have. The next morning he posted about me whether I camped. This is completely absurd, a lie. He is mentally unbalanced. I have already informed my department teachers. I will take the next step according to the instructions given by the teachers. If necessary, I will file a case in his name.

Incidentally, Aminur Biswas claims that he is a candidate of Kubi Branch Chhatra League. There are allegations of directly participating in various provocative activities in the university at various times. On April 28, a teacher was directly attacked on the order of the vice-chancellor. Later the teachers filed a GD against him in the police station. Chhatra League and Vice-Chancellor Abdul Moin threatened to harass and kill journalists at various times for publishing news.
