Jahirul Islam Miron, representative of Banglavision TV in Kuakata, Patuakhali, and those who attacked journalists in different parts of the country, announced a tough program demanding exemplary justice by bringing the identified terrorists under the law and quickly arresting them.
An hour-long human chain and protest program was organized by journalists working in Galachipa Upazila of Patuakhali on February 7 at 11 am in front of the Muktijoddha Complex with the participation of hundreds of journalists and civil society members.
At the same time, the journalists said that the former general secretary of the Kuakata Press Club in Patuakhali and the representative of Banglavision TV, Zahirul Islam Miron, was hacked to death by miscreants on Tuesday (February 4) and left in a suspicious condition in front of his house.
They also strongly protested and condemned the barbaric attacks by identified terrorists on journalists working in the Dhaka Supreme Court premises, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chittagong and Barisal.
The journalists said that journalists are still performing their professional duties at the risk of their lives. Therefore, they demanded that the current government’s information advisor and law enforcement police arrest the identified terrorists within the next 48 hours and bring them under the law. Otherwise, all the media outlets in the country will unite and take more stringent action, the journalists announced in the human chain held.
Speaking at the event, Md. Jasim Uddin Ahmed, President of the Galachipa Television Journalists Forum and District Representative of Asian Television, Samit Kumar Dutta Malay, President of the Galachipa Press Club and Upazila Representative of the Daily Ittefaq, Md. Harun Or Rashid, Upazila Representative of Nayadiganta Galachipa, Md. Sohag Rahman, Representative of Mohona Television, Md. Hafiz Ullah, President of the Galachipa Upazila Press Club, Md. Sajjad Ahmed Masud, Upazila Representative of Bangladesh Pratidin, and various print and online television media outlets were also present.
