A human chain has been held in Rajbari demanding exemplary punishment for those involved in the ongoing violence against women and children, rape, online harassment, trafficking and murder across the country.
The human chain was held in front of the Rajbari Press Club on the morning of March 11 (Tuesday) under the banner of the Social Resistance Committee and Udichi Shilpi Gosthi.
Rajbari Udichi Shilpi Gosthi General Secretary Ejaz Ahmed moderated the human chain and President Professor Shankar Chandra Sinha presided over it. Rajbari District Communist Party President Comrade Abdus Samad Mia, Rajbari Citizen Committee General Secretary Fakir Shahadat Hossain, former District Mahila Parishad President Laili Nahar, Sadar Upazila Communist Party General Secretary Dhirendra Nath Das, Bangladesh Krishak Samity Rajbari District President Abdus Sattar Mandal, freedom fighter Saiful Islam Swapan, Rajbari Writer Pathak Sangha President Poet Nehal Ahmed spoke at the human chain.
The speakers said that the incidents of violence against women and children and rape are increasing day by day in the country. Today, women are unsafe at their workplaces and on the streets. Women are involved in all developments in this country. Women must be provided security in this country. Rapists must be given maximum punishment and punishment must be ensured within a short time. Referring to the recent incident of rape of a child in Magura, the speakers demanded maximum punishment for the accused. The speakers demanded exemplary punishment for the rapists so that no more rape incidents occur in the country.
