Sanatan followers held a sit-in and human chain in Muradnagar Upazila of Cumilla demanding withdrawal of cases against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and the party’s Vice Chairman and former Minister of State for Religious Affairs Alhaj Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad.
On Saturday at 11 am, a sit-in was held in front of the Upazila Parishad Market and then a human chain was formed in front of the Upazila Parishad. In the hour-long human chain, the Sanatan Dharma followers said that a false case was filed against BNP Acting Chairman and the party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad in the August 21 grenade attack. Tarique Rahman and Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad are unable to enter the country due to this case. More than a thousand Sanatan Dharma followers participated in the human chain.
Participants in the human chain said that even though Kaikobad is outside the country, he has been assisting in other pujas including Durga Puja in the last 15 years. He is equally popular with people of all religions. The case against him must be withdrawn. Otherwise, the followers of Sanatan Dharma will call for a bigger movement in the future.
