Human chain demanding execution of OC Pradeep in Teknaf

The general public and anti-discrimination student movement of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, has held a protest march demanding the speedy execution of former OC Pradeep Kumar Das, who was sentenced to death for the murder of retired army major Rashed Mohammad Sinha, and bringing his accomplices to justice. Last Saturday, at 4 pm, they gathered at the Zero Point Shapla square of Teknaf Municipality and went with the procession to the press club in front of Teknaf police station. The speakers spoke at the time. During this, the speakers demanded that the interim government quickly execute the death sentence of former OC Pradeep Kumar Das and bring his accomplices to justice. At the end of the march, representatives of the anti-discrimination student movement, Morshed Alam, Rabiul Hasan Mamun, Saiful Iqbal and Zubair Aziz, among others, spoke. The speakers said that former OC Pradeep Kumar Das, who was sentenced to death in the name of drug prevention with the help of the Hasina government, killed about 200 people in Teknaf. The cries of people who lost their fathers and husbands The sky over Teknaf has become heavy. The common people are demanding justice for these murders. On the night of July 31, 2020, retired army major Sinha Md. Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on Marine Drive Road. After his death on July 31, 2020, the police filed two cases with Teknaf Police Station and one with Ramu Police Station. Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shaharia filed a murder case with the Cox’s Bazar court on August 5. The case was handed over to RAB for investigation. After the investigation, 15 people were accused and a charge sheet was filed in the court on December 13, 2020. Testimony was taken from August 23 to December 1, 2021. Where 65 witnesses testified in 8 stages. On January 31, 2022, the court sentenced OC Pradeep and Liaqat to death, six people to life imprisonment, and seven people to life imprisonment in this case.
