A human chain and protest rally have been held to protest the brutal beating to death of Murad Hossain Munna of Sejamura village in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria by the Border Security Force (BSF).The human chain and protest rally was held at Aulia Bazar on Thursday afternoon.
According to local sources, on April 8, BSF members arrested Murad Hossain Munna in the border area, brutally tortured him and then killed him. The incident sparked intense anger among the local people and human rights organizations.The protest program was addressed by District Hefazat leader Mao: Junayed Qasemi, Bijoynagar Upazila Hefazat President Mao: Shafiqul Islam, Bijoynagar Upazila Hefazat General Secretary Mao: Afzal Hossain, Hefazat leader Mufti Rahmatullah Qasemi, Maulana Kabir Ahmed, Paharpur Union BNP General Secretary Abdul Haque, former General Secretary Md. Sirajul Islam Shishu Mia, BNP leader Md. Yahia Khan, NCP leaders Johan Ahmed and Md. Khairul Islam, Yahia Khan, Upazila Gana Odhikar Parishad convener Md. Shah Alam, Upazila former Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Md. Nizam Uddin, businessman Shahadat Hossain, Ahlus-Sunnah Foundation founding members Md. Sumon Hazari and Rana, among others.
The speakers said that social organizations and the general public condemned the barbaric killings by the Indian Border Security Force and demanded speedy trial of the culprits. They also called on the Bangladesh government to take strong diplomatic steps.
They also said, “Strong protest and action is needed against the Indian BSF for the repeated killing and torture of Bangladeshi citizens.” They also sought the intervention of the international community to stop such attacks.
