A human chain and road meeting was held in Sherpur with the motto “Love life, stay away from drugs” to raise awareness against drugs.
It was organized on the initiative of Battala Social Development Council at Battala intersection of the city on Tuesday (January 21).
The organization’s president ABM Shafiqul Islam Shanto presided over the human band. General secretary of the organization Aminul Islam Babu was in charge.
Vice President of the organization Alhaj Mustafizur Rahman Mintu, Fahim Morshed Badhan, Organizing Secretary Rakibul Hasan Likhan, Office Secretary Al-Amin Molla and others spoke at the meeting.
Students of Sherpur Victoria Academy, Jidni Sodel School and Krishi Training Academy participated in the human chain. Local businessmen were also present and expressed their support for the anti-drug campaign.
The speakers called for a tough stand against drug addicts and drug dealers and advised the younger generation to stay away from drugs. They also emphasized on anti-drug campaign at every level of the society.
Members of Battala Social Development Council, local dignitaries and general public were present in the road meeting. At the end of the event, leaflets were distributed to spread anti-drug messages.
Battala Social Development Council has been conducting regular anti-drug activities and has promised to continue such initiatives in the future.
