On the first day of the second phase of the “Special Combing Operation-2025” to remove the behundi nets and other harmful nets that destroy various species of fish resources, the Fisheries Department of Rangabali Upazila of Patuakhali, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Southern Zone, conducted a campaign in the Tetulia River, Sonarchar of Buragouranga River and the estuary of the Bay of Bengal from the morning to the afternoon of Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26, and seized a large number of illegal mosquito nets, char-gired nets, and current jars.
At this time, Rangabali Upazila Marine Fisheries Officer Mr. SM Shahadat Hossain Raju, Rangabali Thana ASI Mr. Md. Kalam, Office Assistant Mr. Md. Nesar Uddin and SM Zahidul Islam and other colleagues of this department were present.
Shahadat Hossain Raju said that as per the government order, under the guidance of Patuakhali District Fisheries Officer Mr. Md. Kamrul Islam, this campaign to protect fish resources will continue under the River Combing Operation 2025 in Patuakhali’s Galachipa, Dashmina and Rangabali Fish Sanctuaries.
Later, the seized illegal nets were destroyed by burning them in the presence of the public on the banks of the river in Rangabali Upazila.
