Hong Kong is the victim of global warming. The semi-autonomous region of China experienced its hottest summer on record this year with record-breaking temperatures of over 100,000 people. Due to the impact of climate change, the maximum temperature has set new records in different countries this year. Countries like India, Japan, and Australia have announced record-breaking sales last week. Hong Kong officials said on Monday (Sept 4) that Hong Kong experienced its hottest summer on record from June to August this year, with intense heat from June to July. According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the city recorded a monthly average temperature of 29.7 degrees Celsius (85 degrees Fahrenheit) last month, the hottest August on record. This year also marked Hong Kong’s third-warmest July and fourth-warmest June since records began in 1884. August was much drier than normal. A total of 140.7 millimeters of rain fell during this time. The top three warmest years in Hong Kong’s history were all recorded after 2018.
