Wishing the well-being of the people of the hilly regions by floating flowers in the Ramnar Lake during the Phulbijhu festival, Hilly Region Advisor Ambassador (retd) Supradeep Chakma said, “May our coming days be prosperous. We are working with the aim of maintaining communal harmony among all of us, and ensuring that the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts are not deprived of their rights, so that the hilly and Bengali people can live together in communal harmony and make them economically self-reliant.”
Advisor Supradeep Chakma made these remarks in response to questions from journalists after celebrating the traditional Phul Biju festival of the hilly region with a rally and flower floats from the Bailey Road Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex in the capital to Ramna Park Lake on Saturday.
Ambassador (Retd.) Supradeep Chakma, Advisor to the Hill People, extended his greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the celebration of the festival of life of the hill people, ‘Vaisabi’, Bihu, Biju, Bishu, Baisu, Changkran, Sankran, Sangrain, Sangraing, and Bengali New Year.
Advisor Supradeep Chakma said, the symbol of the anti-discrimination movement has been highlighted in this year’s Biju program. He said, “We all want to take this country and this nation to the peak of development by holding hands – this is my expectation for today.” He called on everyone to come to the Chittagong Hill Tracts and see what we want to do together for the development of the people of the Hill Tracts. He said that our program is an inclusive program. We are proud and happy that all of you, the residents of the Hill Tracts, have spontaneously joined this rally and come together. He thanked everyone for this. The advisor said, “I want to do more for the people of the Hill Tracts in the future. I want to develop the Chittagong Hill Tracts.”
At the event, Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Md. Abdul Khalek said, “With the cooperation of the Advisor, we, the Chakmas, Marmas, Tanchangas, Khumis, Boms, Khyangs and Bengalis of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, along with others, were able to celebrate this happy festival together today. Bengalis and hill people are united in this festival. We all participated in the rally together. We danced and sang and joined in the joy.” He said, “May such a bridge between us remain unbroken.”
Residents of three districts living in Dhaka and officials and employees of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs participated in the rally.
