Heavy traffic jam has been created due to deve on one side of Lalpol bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong highway. This has affected the city of Feni. Dhaka-Chittagong bound buses, cars including covered vans are traveling over Feni city causing severe traffic jam.
Vinay Kumar Pal, executive engineer of the road department, said that traffic on one side of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has been stopped due to the landslide under the bridge. Geo bag iron mesh is being repaired quickly. Traffic jam will be normal soon.
It can be seen on the surface, water flows over the Dhaka-Chittagong highway during the terrible floods of the remembrance period. Roads and bridges were severely damaged due to floods. The soil under the Lalpol bridge adjacent to the Latu Mia brick field at the head of Rampur road shifted. The road department stopped the traffic. One-way traffic causes severe traffic jams on highways.
Officer-in-charge of Mohipal Highway Police Station Mostafa Kamal said that the bridge adjacent to Rampur on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has been damaged due to floods, but the traffic movement is now normal under the supervision of the highway police.
Feni Superintendent of Police Md. Habibur Rahman said that highway vehicles are entering the city due to the problem of the bridge. This has created a traffic jam in Feni city. Additional traffic police have been deployed from police lines to control the traffic jam.
