The hanging body of Afia Akhtar (14), a student of Class IX, was recovered from the classroom of Jhalakathi Govt. Harchandra Girls’ School. The police recovered the body from a room of the school at around 11 o’clock on Monday (July 1).
Afia Akhtar is the daughter of teacher Amir Hossain of Gavaramchandrapur village of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila. His mother works in Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila Family Planning Department. They live in Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila quarter.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhalkathi Sadar Police Station. Shahidul Islamjanan, morning shift student Afia Akter comes to school in the morning. Later, his hanging body was recovered from a room of the school. The girl is believed to have committed suicide by twisting the veil with an electric fan in the classroom and hanging herself. However, the cause of suicide is not known.
