The police recovered the hanging body of Hasina Akhtar Bristhi (27), a mother of two children, in Laksam, Comilla. Deceased Hasina Akter Barshti (27) wife of Sarwar Qayyum of Manoharpur village of Kandirpar union of upazila.
On Sunday (November 3) morning, Laksam police station recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. This incident has created a sensation in the area. Rain’s husband Sarwar Qayyum has been absconding since the incident. Sarwar Qayyum son of Safiullah of Manoharpur.
Rain’s sister-in-law Azhar Uddin Sujan said that her husband Sarwar Qayyum called me at quarter past four on Saturday night about Rain’s illness. When I went to their house to look for rain, they told me to calm down. At this stage Rain told me that he had committed suicide by hanging himself. I report to the police station.
According to family sources, Sarwar Qayyum got married to Hasina Akhtar Barshi five years ago. Daughter of Zafar Ahmed of Satghar Ichapur village of Gobindpur union of Barshi upazila. They have two daughters named Dipu (4) and Noor (1).
Relatives said that Rain’s husband Saroar Qayyum deals in fish. At night there is a quarrel between husband and wife. I have come to know that because of a quarrel, she hangs her husband with a veil in his residence I can’t understand whether it is murder or suicide
Nazneen Sultana, officer-in-charge of Laksam police station, said that the body was recovered from the spot and sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. It is being investigated whether it was murder or suicide. However, as the husband is absconding, efforts are on to arrest him.
