Mohammad Masood Majumdar:
On this day in 1971, the Pakistani occupation forces surrendered at Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka. Through the final victory, the independent state of Bangladesh took place on the world map. Our freedom was gained in exchange for the sacrifice of 30 lakh martyrs and the honor of 2 lakh mothers and sisters through nine months of bloody liberation war.
Vice President of Comilla South District Awami League and nominated candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in Comilla 8, Barura Constituency. Z. M. In the morning, Shafiuddin Shamim started the day’s program by paying tribute to the memory of all the martyrs and sacrificers of the Liberation War at Barura Upazila Central Shaheed Minar. He then placed a wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the upazila complex and then participated in a huge victory rally organized by Barura Upazila Awami League and its affiliates. The rally ends at the zero point by circling the various roads of Barura Municipality. After that, Shafiuddin Shamim went to Battali Martyred Freedom Fighter Memorial with leaders and activists and offered wreaths at the monument and recited Fateha and prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of martyred freedom fighters.
In a brief speech at that time, he said that under the leadership of the great architect of freedom, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, we have achieved this great freedom in return for the sacrifice of 30 lakh martyrs and the honor of 2 lakh mothers and sisters. The main objective of this independence was to build a happy prosperous Bangladesh free from poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, corruption, terrorism, religious prejudice, drugs and exploitation. Sheikh Hasina, the gifted daughter of the father of the nation, the daughter of the spirit of democracy, is determined to build a smart Bangladesh after the implementation of Digital Bangladesh in the last 15 years. The sacrifices of our martyred freedom fighters will be in vain if we cannot build a true golden Bengal as dreamed by the father of the nation.
I firmly believe that the people of Barura from all walks of life are with me in improving the quality of life of people. In the coming days, I will work for the betterment of the oppressed and hardworking people of Barura and Bangladesh. Since People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina has nominated me as the candidate of Bangladesh Awami League in Barura constituency, I expect your support for freedom, development and democracy. We will win another victory by voting on the boat brand on January 7, Inshallah.
