The government of the Middle Eastern country of Saudi Arabia is bringing some new changes to the labor law.  As a result of several legislative amendments, the country’s workplace workers will have more opportunities.  These amendments will come into effect next February.
 According to a report on Friday (September 6), the details of the amendments were revealed recently.  A decree in this regard has already been issued.  It has changed several paragraphs and added two new paragraphs.  Besides, 7 paragraphs have been omitted.
According to information, maternity leave has been increased from 10 weeks to 12 weeks in the Saudi Labor Law.  The leave has been extended to 3 days in case of attending the death of brothers and sisters.  From now on, under the Saudi Labor Law, the probationary period of the worker will be up to 180 days.
 In addition to financial matters in the case of overtime, employees can also claim vacation time.  One month before leaving the job should be informed. Although earlier this period was two months. From now on the accommodation and travel expenses of the employees will have to be paid by the employers.
 On the other hand, some amendments have been made in the law for foreign workers as well.  It is said that foreign workers must be employed as per special agreement.  The current law has not fixed the specific time in this regard.  It is said that the appointment of this contract will be fixed according to the duration of the work permit.
The duration of the contract is considered to be 1 year.  However, the matter is not finalized yet.  It is said that this period will be implemented after getting the approval of the government.
