Government grant films will be selected with transparency and utmost professionalism – Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has started the process of selecting films with transparency and utmost professionalism for disbursement of government grants. To this end, for the first time Power Point presentation of the proposed films before the Script Selection Committee of the Full Length Film Grant has been started. PowerPoint presentation of 45 films initially selected from a total of 195 full-length films applied for grant in FY 2023-24 has begun.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Arafat inaugurated the program in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the secretariat on Thursday (April 18) afternoon.

On this day, the script selection committee members secretly assigned different marks to the films after watching the power point presentation. Members of the Film Grant Committee were also present as observers.

At this time, the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting said that government-funded films will be selected with transparency and utmost professionalism. The government wants to ensure more professionalism in the production of government-funded films. The government is committed to ensuring that grants for film production are provided through a transparent and accountable process. The government also wants to ensure that skilled and experienced people in the field of film can be involved in the selection process for grants.

The state minister also said that the members of the selection committee are awarding marks separately on the proposals of the applied films based on various international standards. Later, by averaging the marks of all the members, the applications with the highest marks will be considered for grant. Such steps have been taken to ensure maximum impartiality and transparency.

It is to be noted that in order to encourage talent and creativity in the film industry and to uphold the prevailing culture of Bangladesh, the spirit of freedom and liberation war, life-oriented, tasteful and artistic films with human values, government sponsorship and support for film production is based on the Government Grant Policy for Film Production, 2020 (Revised). //Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting discussed with Land Minister to resume work of Bhashantech Rehabilitation Project (BRP) as soon as possible//

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Arafat discussed with Lands Minister Narayan Chandra Chand the speedy resumption of Bhashantech Rehabilitation Project (BRP) in the capital.

This discussion was held yesterday Thursday (April 18) at noon in the office room of the Minister of Lands in the Secretariat.

The Minister of Lands assured the Minister of State for Information about resuming the work of the BRP project and issued necessary instructions to the concerned in this regard.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting said that the slum dwellers will not be evicted without rehabilitation after visiting his constituency Bhashantek on April 6. Addressing the slum dwellers on this day, he further said, “During the election, I promised you about the Bhashantech BRP project that all the slum dwellers will be brought under rehabilitation.” In that continuation, I spoke with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about the rehabilitation of Bhashantek slum dwellers. The Prime Minister ordered the implementation of the BRP project quickly.
