The biennial election of the traditional organization Goalanda Press Club has been completed smoothly. In this election, Aju Sikder, Rajbari correspondent of Baishakhi Television and Daily Samakal’s Goalanda correspondent, and Shahidul Islam, Rajbari correspondent of Daily Janakantha, were elected unopposed as president.
Other committee positions were also elected unopposed—including Mehedul Hasan Akkas, Goalanda correspondent of Nayadiganta, as general secretary, Zahurul Islam Halim, Goalanda correspondent of Daily Amar Deshre, as treasurer, Saifur Rahman Parvez, Goalanda correspondent of Ganamukti, as office secretary, and Lutfar Rahman, Goalanda correspondent of Ajkaler Khabar, as publicity secretary.
Direct voting was held for the post of vice-president. In this, the Rajbari correspondent of Dainik Inqilab, Md. Nazrul Islam, was elected as the senior vice-president with the highest 13 votes out of 18. Aminul Islam Rana, the correspondent of Dainik Pratidin Sangbad, was elected as the second vice-president with the highest 12 votes.
The president and editor of the elected committee said that we will work together to protect the tradition of the organization and achieve the professional rights of journalists. They sought everyone’s cooperation.
