International Women’s Day was celebrated under the slogan ‘Rights, Equality, Empowerment, Development of Women and Girls’ by the Goalanda Upazila Administration and the Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer’s Office in Rajbari.
A discussion meeting and rally was held in Goalanda Upazila at 11 am on Saturday (March 8). The meeting was chaired by Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Salma Begum and Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Nahidur Rahman was present as the chief guest.
In addition, Upazila Social Service Officer Ruhul Amin, Headmaster of Shahazuddin Institute Arifa Begum, journalists working in print and electronic media and many others were present as special guests.
Speakers at the discussion highlighted the importance of women’s rights, equality and empowerment. They said that equal participation of women at every level of society must be ensured and they must be made economically and socially self-reliant.
At the event, women from different walks of life expressed their opinions and sought the administration’s cooperation in the development of women.
The women present welcomed such initiatives aimed at empowering women and bringing positive change in society.
