Germany will give 1 billion euros to Bangladesh: Rizwana Hasan

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser on environment, forest and climate change, said that Germany will give 1 billion euros to Bangladesh in the next 10 years for the development of the renewable energy sector. This year’s amount is 1.5 million euros.

The Environment Adviser held a meeting with Akhim Troster, the German Ambassador appointed to Bangladesh, at the Ministry’s office on Tuesday (September 17). The advisor said this later. This information is known from a press release of the Ministry of Environment.

The advisor said that Germany will provide this assistance in the next 10 years. Out of this, Bangladesh will get one and a half million euros this year. The two countries will strengthen knowledge exchange and cooperation with forces such as the private sector, research institutes, academia and civil society.

Rizwana Hasan said, in this cooperation, minority ethnic groups, women and youth will also be involved. He thanked the Ambassador for Germany’s continued support for environment and climate issues. He also emphasized the need for increased international cooperation to address global climate challenges and the importance of sustainable forest management.

Ambassador Troster pledged to support Bangladesh in its fight against climate change and appreciated Bangladesh’s efforts to protect the environment. He noted Germany’s expertise in the renewable energy sector and offered technical assistance to support Bangladesh’s green energy initiatives.

In the meeting, the adviser and ambassador discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, river cleaning projects and climate change mitigation.
