Former Rajbari-1 MP and former State Minister for Education Kazi Keramat Ali has been arrested. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested him from Mohakhali in the capital on Sunday night.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed this information. He said, “The DB police arrested Kazi Keramat Ali from Mohakhali tonight on the basis of a specific case.” He also said that there are multiple cases against him, and he will be handed over to the court after being arrested in any of them.
On August 31, a case was filed against 170 people, including Kazi Keramat Ali’s brother Kazi Erad Ali. 300 other unidentified people were accused in the case.
It is worth noting that Awami League nominated candidate Kazi Keramat Ali won the 2024 National Assembly elections in Rajbari-1 constituency (Sadar and Goalanda).
He was elected as a member of parliament for the sixth time in the same constituency.
