Police and joint forces have seized Tk 1 crore 16 lakh cash, a large amount of various foreign currencies, a Land Cruiser, a Harrier car from the in-laws of Abir Hasan Tamim, son of former member of Parliament Mohammad Habib Hasan, in Uttara of the capital. Three people have been arrested in this incident. They are – Shahzada Khan Sajjad, Md. Taujidul Islam and Md Saiful Islam.
A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Uttara Paschim Thana police and army conducted a joint operation and seized these and arrested three people. The arrested told the police that the seized money, foreign currency and two cars belonged to former MP Mohammad Habib Hasan and his family members. Today Monday (September 23), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman gave this information.
He said that secret information was that a house in Sector 7 of Uttara had weapons including bullet-proof jackets of the police. Based on this information, a joint team of Army and Uttara Paschim police station entered the house along with local witnesses on Sunday (September 22). Three people were arrested along with a large amount of money and foreign currency during a raid there.
1 crore 16 lakh 45 thousand 500 taka, 65 100 USD notes, 4 20 USD notes, 1 5 USD note, 1 1 USD note, 41 1000 THB notes, 11 100 THB notes, 2 500 KHB notes were recovered from them. Notes, 28 20 Thai baht notes, 3 50 Thai bath notes, 20 500 dirham notes, one 100 dirham note, one 20 dirham note, 3 10 dirham notes, 2 5 dirham notes, 5 100 Canadian dollar notes, 2 10 Singapore dollar notes, one 2 Singapore dollar notes, one 100 riyal note, two 50 riyal notes, two 10 riyal notes, three 5 riyal notes, one 1 riyal note, one 2000 rupee note, 60 500 rupee notes, one 200 rupee note, 5 100 rupee notes , 5 notes of 50 rupees, 4 notes of 20 rupees, 6 notes of 10 rupees, 3 bulletproof jackets of navy blue color with ‘POLICE’ written in English on both front and back sides and 2 private cars were seized.
DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman also said that the three recovered bulletproof jackets were used by fugitive Dhaka-18 ex-member of parliament Mohammad Habib Hasan and his son fugitive Abir Hasan Tamim before August 5 in the anti-discrimination student movement.
The DMP DC also said that the house where the raid was conducted was the in-law house of Abir Hasan Tamim, son of former MP Mohammad Habib Hasan. And seized money, foreign currency and two cars belonging to Mohammad Habib Hasan and his family members.
