Former army chief sought relief from post of BOA president

Sports Desk: Former army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has asked to be relieved from the post of president of Bangladesh Olympic Association. A few days ago, he asked for exemption in a letter written to the Secretary General. However, the letter reached the BOA on Wednesday.

According to tradition, the president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association was elected as the army chief. After the retirement of SM Shafiuddin Ahmed from the post of army chief, it was confirmed that BOA is going to get a new president.

After the resignation of the former army chief is accepted by the BOA, the process of electing a new president will begin. And through that election the new president will take responsibility.

According to the BOA constitution, fresh elections will be held after one year. But before that, there should be an election for the post of president.
