Forest officials arrested four fishermen while catching crabs in the forbidden canal Sapkhali. The fishermen were arrested from the Sapkhali prohibited canal area under Kobadak station of Satkhira range around 9 am on Thursday (October 12).
At this time, 2 boats and crab fishing equipment were seized. The arrested fishermen are Bayjid Hossain (26) son of Golam Hossain Gazi of Matiyabhanga village of Koira upazila in Khulna district, Taijul Islam (19) son of Azizul Moral and Jahangir Alam (22) and Jamal Hossain (25) sons of Abdul Majid Gazi of Napitkhali village of Shyamnagar upazila.
Kobadak Station Officer. Mubarak Hossain said, based on secret information, four fishermen were arrested while catching crabs during raids in the forbidden canal of Sundarbans.
Satkhira Range Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) MKM Iqbal Hussain Chowdhury said, ‘A case has been filed under the Forest Act in this regard.’ He also said that the operation of the forest department is continuing to protect the resources of the Sundarbans
