A farmer named Kamal Sheikh (25) died in a lightning strike in Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district. Kamal is son of Sayeed Sheikh of Bandhuli Khalkula village of Jamalpur union of Baliakandi upazila.
The incident took place at around 10 am on Monday (April 21) in Bandhuli Khalkula village of Jamalpur union of the upazila. Another person named Raju (20) was injured at that time.
According to local sources, farmer Kamal and his cousin Raju were returning home after seeing clouds in the sky in the morning. When they came to the banks of the Chandana river nearby, lightning suddenly struck. Kamal Sheikh and his brother Raju were injured in this. Locals rescued them and took them to Madhukhali Hospital, where the doctor declared Kamal dead. Raju has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
