Three persons were arrested at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat in Rajbari and sentenced to two months’ imprisonment without work by the mobile court for the crime of charging more than the prescribed price. Bangladesh Army fully cooperated in the operation.
The operation was conducted in Daulatdia Ghat area on November 6 (Wednesday) at around 11:30 p.m. Deputy Commissioner’s Office Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (NDC) Nahid Ahmed managed the mobile court.
At this time, the mobile court was run by Nuru Mandal neighborhood of Daulatdia Union. Shahid Pramanik’s son Amjad Hossain Pramanik (31), Kiamaddin Member Para. Tarak Ali Khan’s son. Mosharraf Fakir (27), son of Elahi Khan (31) and Delwar Fakir of Shahdat Membar Para, was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
Executive Magistrate Nahid Ahmed said that under the direction of Rajbari Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia Sir, the operation was conducted at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat in Goland from 11:30 pm on Wednesday. Three persons were arrested for the crime of taking ferry crossing fare from the transport company at an excess price fixed in the operation. When the arrested three confessed their guilt, each of them was sentenced to 2 months’ imprisonment without labor under Section 40 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009. The arrested persons admitted that they were collecting extra fare of Tk 100 to Tk 200 per vehicle.
Major Rezaur Rahman of Rajbari Army Camp led by Army Captain Sanjid Ahmed and other members of the army, members of Goland Ghat Police Station and members of BIWTA were also present in the operation. ‘
