Staff Reporter: “Disaster forecasting and preparation saves lives” was organized by the Poba Upazila Administration and Upazila Project Implementation Office on the occasion of National Disaster Preparedness Day. Earlier, on the occasion of the day, on Monday (March 10) morning, after a colorful rally at the Upazila Parishad premises, the Nouhata Fire Service team presented awareness exercises on what to do in case of various disasters including earthquakes and fires.
Upazila Executive Officer Arafat Aman Aziz presided over the program. The discussion meeting was moderated by Upazila BRDB Officer Mosa. Shamsunnahar, and among others, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Zahid Hasan, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Engineer Abu Bashir, Hargram Union Parishad Chairman Professor Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Engineer Mukbul Hossain, Upazila Food Control Officer AKM Fazlul Haque, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Fatema Khatun, Upazila Statistics Officer Golam Faruk, Upazila Poverty Alleviation Officer Saidur Rahman, Deputy Assistant Jute Development Officer Golam Mostafa, URC Instructor Reheno Akhter, Assistant Programmer Banbeis Ismotara Khatun, UDF Zakia Sultana, Information Service Officer Ayesha Khatun, Nowhata Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Niranjan Sarkar, Scout Representative Golam Mortaza Badsha etc.
Also, officials of various departments of the Upazila administration, Scout members. Red Crescent Volunteer NGO representatives, journalists, teachers and students of schools and colleges were present.
