Allegations have been made that elder brother was killed by younger brother due to dispute over land in Patuakhali’s Bauphal. The incident took place in North Daspara village of Ward No. 2 of Daspara Union of the upazila on Monday afternoon. Deceased Ruhul Amin Akon (54) owned land in the village
He used to make a living. According to related sources, Ruhul Amin had been in dispute with his younger brother Rezaul Karim Akan (45) over the division of ancestral property for a long time. In the afternoon of the incident (Monday), the younger brother Rezaul had an argument with his elder brother Ruhul Amin about the distribution of the accumulated land. At one point the two brothers brought 2 sharp knives from the house and started attacking both of them. During the incident, their nephew Rubel (35) came forward to restrain both of them and he was also hacked. After taking 3 people to Baufal Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Ruhul Amin dead. Rezaul Karim and their nephew Rubel were sent to Barisal Sherbangla Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Bauphal Health Complex’s emergency department doctor Dr. Diba Debnath told reporters that the bodies of the dead and injured have multiple sharp weapon injuries.
Bauphal police station OC Arichul Haque said that after the recovery of the body, it has to be sent to Patuakhali Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Rezaul and Rubel are under police surveillance. If complaint is received, necessary action will be taken subject to investigation.
