Joypurhat is flooded with Eid shopping, with new collections of Persian dresses and Gharara dresses this year.

Various shopping malls and cloth shops are adorned with a huge collection of colorful Indian sarees and Pakistani three-pich lehengas. The cloth shops in various areas of Joypurhat district and five upazilas, including the city, are now adorned with a variety of new designs of Parsi dresses, Gharara sarees and three-pich lehengas. Women buyers are getting carried away by the eye-catching designs and chic designs. Where price is not an issue, women buyers are only looking at their favorite Pakistani three-pich lehenga or saree. They are buying whatever they like.
Although shoppers are now buying clothing items, crowds have been observed at cosmetics and shoe stores. The rush of shoppers coming since morning is creating traffic jams in the city. Shopping and selling continues till 1:30-2 am. Traffic police and community police members are struggling to control the traffic jam.
Visiting various shops in the district town, including New Market, Sadar Road, Purba Bazar Cloth Patti, Enamul Haque Market, Meena Bazar and Big Bazar, Mousumi, Shahajan Ali Market, it is seen that the sellers do not have time to talk much.
Shopkeepers said that although sales were low at the beginning of Ramadan, sales have been in full swing since the 20th Ramadan.
Prof. Masud Parvez Babu of Babu Garments in Purba Bazar said that there are baby sets and gents sets for small children, and Punjabis for teenagers and young men. Punjabis are being sold for 800 to 3000 taka. Garments in different sizes are being sold for children for 1300 to 8500 taka. Due to the increase in the cost of cloth, sewing, labor and transportation, the prices have increased by 300 to 500 taka depending on the type compared to last time.
With Eid approaching, many tailors in Joypurhat have gone to Dhaka in the hope of earning extra income, so tailors have stopped booking clothes. This time, the wages are being charged at 450-550 taka per shirt, and 600-800 taka for pants and Punjabi.
A resident of the Notun Hat area of ​​Joypurhat city, Shimul Hossain said he bought two Punjabis, two trousers and two pairs of shoes for Tk 15,000. He said the price was a bit high.
A resident of Khejur Tulir village in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, Md. Faruk Hossain, said, “I came to do Eid shopping for my parents, wife and children. There is a good collection of new clothes in the market. I bought jeans, T-shirts and three-piece suits for boys and girls.”
Asha Bagbari, Mosha Mim Akhter from Adamdighi upazila of Bogra district, came to Joypurhat district and bought new sarees, lungi and shoes for my father and mother. And I bought a new design Parsi dress and new clothes. I am very happy with this. It is our joy to celebrate Eid with my parents.
Md. Masud Parvez (Babu), General Secretary, Purba Bazar Cloth Traders’ Association, Joypurhat, said,
Traders say that this year the demand for Indian three-ply sarees is very low and sales are low. However, the business leader said that sales are much better this year than last year.
Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Abdul Wahab, Joypurhat, said that overall security has been provided to the city’s markets to enhance Eid shopping, said the district police official.
The district police have taken adequate security measures in the markets to ensure smooth completion of Eid shopping.
