US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken welcomed Dr. Muhammad Yunus for taking oath as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. On Saturday (August 10) he welcomed this on social media X.
Blinken said the United States supports Yunus’ call for calm and peace and is committed to working with Bangladesh. He also said that the United States dreams of a democratic and prosperous future for the people of Bangladesh.
Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Muhammad Yunus.
Modi said, we hope to return to normal soon. He also said to ensure the safety of all other minorities including Hindus.
Moreover, the new interim government of Bangladesh has been welcomed by the United States, China and the European Union (EU). They all assured to work together to restore a fair democratic environment and enhance mutual cooperation.
Sheikh Hasina left the country for India last Monday (August 5) in the face of student protests. The President then dissolved Parliament and started the process of forming an interim government.
