Four persons, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, are scheduled to present legal arguments in the case for alleged violation of labor laws today. In the meantime, Dr. has appeared for the hearing. Muhammad Yunus.

On Thursday (December 21), Dhaka Labor Court Judge Sheikh Marina Sultana’s court. Yunus’ lawyer, Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, presented arguments on the legal aspects of the case. On this day, the presentation of arguments was not completed and the next day of presentation of arguments was fixed on 24th December.
Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun said about the hearing, Dr. in the description of the witnesses of this case. There is no indication that Yunus or others are involved. There is no document against them. He further said that there is no allegation that the accused are criminals anywhere in the application of the case.
He also said that according to the Companies Act, the crime will be the responsibility of the company. But here the person has been accused for mala fides. For this reason, this case cannot continue.
Earlier, on December 6, the court exempted Dr. Muhammad Yunus from personal appearance in the labor court until December 23 in this case. That day Dr. Muhammad Yunus appeared in the Labor Court for the seventh time.
Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun is presenting arguments on behalf of Dr. Yunus in the court. Advocate SM Mizanur Rahman was with him. The testimony of the plaintiff in this case ended on November 6. On that day, on November 9, the court set a date for the four defendants of this case, including Dr. Muhammad Yunus, to defend themselves under Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
On September 9, 2021, in the Third Labor Court of Dhaka, Arifuzzaman, the labor inspector of the Directorate of Factories and Institutions, became the plaintiff. The case was filed against four people including Yunus. In the case, allegations were made under Section 4 of 7, 8, 117 and 234 of the Labor Act for non-deposit of specific dividends to the Labor Welfare Foundation, non-permanent employment of workers, non-encashment of public holidays.
