In Rajshahi’s Paba Upazila, under the incentive program in the fiscal year 2022-23, the inauguration of distribution of free seeds and chemical fertilizers was held among the small and marginal farmers with the aim of increasing the cultivation and production of summer onion (nabi) and Aman paddy in the kharip/2023-24 season.
Upazila Executive Officer Losmi Chakma presided over the opening ceremony of distribution of free seeds and chemical fertilizers among farmers organized by Upazila Agriculture Extension Department and with the support of Upazila Administration at 11:00 on Thursday (June 22). Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shamsun Nahar Bhuiyan was the welcome speaker on the occasion.
Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Mosa Arzia Begum and Md Wazed Ali Khan, Upazila Rural Development Officer Shamsunnahar, Upazila Assistant Programmer Shahidul Islam Shahid, Upazila Accounts Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Upazila Development Facilitator (UDF) Zakia Sultana along with Upazila Agriculture were present. Officers and employees of various departments of Extension Directorate and Upazila Administration.
It is to be noted that free seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among the small and marginal farmers with the aim of increasing the cultivation and production of summer onion (nabi) and Aman paddy in Kharip/2023-24 season under the incentive program. Among the 950 farmers of the upazila, 5 kg of Ropa Aman seeds, 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP fertilizer, and 1 kg of onion seeds among 200 farmers, 20 kg of DAP, 20 kg of MOP fertilizer, pesticides, polythene, twine, vermi compost and inter: Financial assistance is provided through mobile banking for care.
