Deputy Commissioner’s exchange of views in Pangsha

Rajbari Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Ms. Sultana Akhter held a meeting with government officials, journalists and dignitaries at the upazila level in Pangsha, Rajbari. She joined Rajbari on January 13 as the 25th DC of Rajbari district.

The meeting was held at 10:30 am on January 28 (Tuesday) at the Pangsha Upazila Parishad auditorium organized by the upazila administration. The meeting, chaired and moderated by Upazila Executive Officer S.M. Abu Darda, was addressed by Rajbari Civil Surgeon (Acting) and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Md. Ebadat Hossain, Upazila Animal Officer Pritam Kumar Das, Pangsha Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Md. Rashidul Islam, Social Service Officer Rabiul Islam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Jahangir Alam, Upazila Engineering Officer Khowajur Rahman, Secondary Education Officer Abul Kalam Azad, Primary Education Officer Mahabul Alam, Upazila Food Controller AKM Shahnewaz, Journalist MA Jinnah, Journalist Masud Reza Shishir, Journalist Ratan Mahmud, Journalist Kazi Selim Mabud, Journalist Abul Kalam Azad, Journalist Muktar Hossain and Journalist Professor Md. Ijazul Haque among others. During this time, the speakers spoke about various problems of the upazila including traffic congestion, footpath encroachment, traffic jams, medical treatment, illegal sand extraction from the Padma River and river erosion, as well as possible solutions.

The Deputy Commissioner listened to everyone carefully and assured to solve the problems. Along with this, he called on all the officials working in the upazila to perform their duties with dedication. He also said that my door is open for everyone. He also sought help and cooperation from everyone. He also said to the journalists – Journalists are the mirror of society, you will fulfill your responsibility. In fulfilling your responsibility, you must report accurately and based on information. There is no obstacle in the report. You will write for the development of society. At this time, he assured to provide a grant for the treatment of a sick journalist working in Pansha. Also present at the time were – Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Monirul Islam, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Tofazzel Hossain, Upazila Fisheries Officer Sayeed Ahmed, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Aslam Hossain, Cooperative Officer Saiful Islam, Upazila Information Officer Rumana Akhter, Upazila Accountant Md. Shamsul Alam, Assistant Engineer Nasir Uddin Mola, Assistant BADC Mahabub Hossain, local dignitaries, journalists from print and electronic media.

After the exchange of views, the Upazila administration distributed free educational materials to 100 poor and meritorious students at the Upazila Shilpakala Academy auditorium. Then, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Pangsha Model Police Station, Pangsha Upazila Land Office, Pangsha Municipality, Pangsha Kalimohar Land Office, Kalimohar Union Parishad, Kalimohar Union Digital Center, Community Clinic, Village Development Association of One House One Farm Project. Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Ms. Sultana Akhter was previously working as Deputy Secretary (Export-2 Branch) of the Ministry of Commerce. She was appointed in a notification signed by Aminul Islam, Deputy Secretary of Field Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, on January 9, by order of the President. Sultana Akhter is an officer of the 27th BCS Administration Cadre. She joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in November 2008 and started working as Assistant Commissioner in the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office. After that, she served as Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Raipur Upazila of Narsingdi District. Later, he was posted as the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Tarail Upazila of Kishoreganj district. Later, he served as Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education. He was promoted to the post of Deputy Secretary in 2021. He last served as the Deputy Secretary (Export-2 Branch) of the Ministry of Commerce. He is a resident of Parashuram Upazila of Feni district.
