Last Sunday (August 20) at 11:30 am, he sold the hilsa fish at the fishing landing center of Bankkhali river in the city. Abdul Gani, the trawler’s crew, said that on August 14, a trawler went into the sea with 21 fishermen. 7 thousand 300 hilsa were caught in the Bay of Bengal about 85 kilometers west of the coast. He brought the fish to the Fishery Ghat and sold them and got Tk 52 lakh. Last Sunday night, they went to the sea again to collect hilsa. Meanwhile, according to the information of the district fisheries department, more than 2 thousand 100 metric tons of hilsa have been supplied from Cox’s Bazar to different parts of the country in the last seven days. In addition to the wholesale market at Fishery Ghat, 300 metric tons of hilsa are being sent to different parts of the country daily from various fishing centers of the district including Teknaf, St. Martin, Maheshkhali, Qutubdia, Chakaria, Pekua. Before this, 39 thousand 314 metric tons of hilsa was extracted in Cox’s Bazar last year. This time, the target of hilsa collection has been set at 50 thousand metric tons. Last Sunday, it was seen at Fisherighat that the weight of most of the hilsa collected for sale is 800 grams to 1.5 kg. It is also being sold at a high price. In the market, each hilsa weighing 900 grams to 1 kg is being wholesaled for 850 taka, hilsa weighing 700 to 800 grams is 650 to 700 taka, and hilsa weighing 500 to 600 grams is selling for 550-600 taka. Advisor of Fisherighat Fishery Traders Cooperative Association Zainal Abedin said that last Sunday from Fisherighat About 20 metric tons of hilsa have been supplied to Dhaka-Chittagong from 8 am to 12:30 pm. The price of hilsa has started to decrease slightly compared to before. Cox’s Bazar’s demand for hilsa is decreasing as the supply of hilsa to Dhaka market from different districts is increasing. Due to this, the price has also started to decrease. Hilsa traders said that the transportation and packaging cost of sending each kg of hilsa to Dhaka by truck from Cox’s Bazar is 50 to 60 taka. Due to this reason, it is not possible to earn more than Tk 10 to Tk 20 per kg of hilsa in Dhaka. District Fisheries Officer Md. Badruzzaman said that 500 metric tons of marine fish are being extracted daily from Teknaf, Maheshkhali, Kutubdia and other coasts including wholesale hilsa market at Fisherighat. Of this, 300 metric tons of hilsa. The weight of 60% of the extracted hilsa is from 800 grams to 1 kg. 30 percent weigh 1 to 1.5 kg. The rest are one and a half to two kg.
